The ALPHABET SOUP package that you have purchased is intended to be a user-friendly package. There are 30 thematic sheets that may be used with Grades 4-8 at almost any time during the school year to help improve and expand your students' comprehension and pronunciation of the alphabet. Each activity should require a minimum of 1 French period to complete. Each teacher should assign specific time frames for completion of the activities. Here are some helpful instructions that will ensure success in your classrooms: Photocopy the appropriate sheet(s) for your class. Explain your expectations of this exercise to your students. i.e. - While using their alphabet charts, students must print the phonetic spellings of each word; practise the spellings silently/orally with a partner or in a group; take up the activity orally with the class; practise various selected vocabulary for a class/school spelling bee; etc... Read through the exercise with your students. Demonstrate a phonetic spelling for your students using the alphabet chart. You may decide for yourself whether or not you would like your students to complete the exercise independently or with a partner. Explain your evaluation methods to your students. Each teacher is encouraged to create a rubric for different grade levels and/or targeting specific aspects of the activity. Once your students have completed their pages, you may have them compare their spellings with a partner or hand them in for evaluation. Assemble your students in partners or in groups to spell their words for pronunciation practice and alphabet reinforcement. Glue their activity pages into their notebooks as a reference.
